O holy paradox of love, wind, storm and fire and gentle dew;
pour strength and might below, above, unseen but known,Creator new.

Then turn to prayer our deepest groan, in words too deep for sighs:
through you our longings are made known and "Abba, Father" is our prize.

Give us the gifts of Pentecost, equip your Church for what's in store:
without your guidance we are lost, but with your grace we need no more.

Of all the gifts on us endowed, endowed (quite undeserved but much in need)
set love as a jewel in the crown, make it our moral law, our creed.

Your Church has marred your constant love by our misusing of your grace;
give unity, O Holy Dove, and make believers of our race.
