Lyrics: At that time there was in Jerusalem an old man called Simeon, who was upright and devout. The Holy Spirit had told him he would not see death, until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. When Joseph and Mary brought the boy to the temple old Simeon took the child in his arms, praised God and said: “Lord now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all people. To be a light to lighten the nations, and to be the glory of thy people Israel.”
