Ich weiß, daß mein Erlöser lebt,
und er wird mich hernach
aus der Erden wieder auferweken,
und werde danach mit dieser meiner Haut umgeben werden,
und werde in meinem Fleisch, Gott sehen.
Denselben werde ich mir sehen,
und meine Augen werden ihn schauen,
und kein Fremder. 

Christus der ist mein Leben,
Sterben is mein Gewinn,
dem tu ich mich ergeben,
mit Freud fahr ich dahin.

English translation:
I know that my Redeemer lives,
and he shall raise me up on the last day;
then I in my body, in my mortal flesh, shall see God.
With my own eyes, not another’s, 
I shall behold him.

Christ is my life, to die is my gain, 
to him I surrender myself, with joy I depart.
