Tenebrae factae sunt dum crucifixissent Jesum Judaei:
et circa horam nonam exclamavit Jesus voce magna;
“Deus meus, ut quid me dereliquisti?”
Exclamans Jesus voce magna, ait:
“Pater in manus tuas commendo spiritum meum.”
Et inclinato capite emisit spiritum.

English translation:
Darkness covered the earth
when the Jews had crucified Jesus,
and about the ninth hour
Jesus cried out with a loud voice:
“My God, why have you forsaken me?”
Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, said:
“Lord, into your hands I commend my spirit.”
And, with his head inclined,
he gave up his spirit.
